In preparation for a message I preached to our college ministry on Annanias & Sapphira (Acts 4:23-5:11), I listened to a sermon by C.J. Mahaney on the holiness of God. It was actually a sermon taking a look at the events surrounding the death of Uzzah, whom God smote immediately after he reached out to steady the Ark of the Covenant. You can find the sermon here.
You would do well to listen to this message. Really. Mahaney addresses the question we all have asked about Uzzah & others who were suddenly struck down by God. That is, "Why did God kill him?". I think you'll find the answer rather astonishing. It's a lengthy 60 minute message, but you won't notice. Just listen.
