Father's Day Gift

It's hard to find a decent Father's day card (or any greeting card for that matter) that isn't too mushy, corny, empty or tacky. That's why our family most often makes our own cards for special occasions. However, this Father's day, my children each gave me store bought cards (along with their own artistic creations). They were all sweet, but the simple words on my 3 yr old's card gave me that lump in my throat and tear(s) in my eye.

Reading the card below quickly reminded me of my primary duty as a father - to tell my children about Jesus.

Jesus loves me this I know...

He gave me you to tell me so!

And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart.
You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them
when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way,
and when you lie down, and when you rise.
You shall bind them as a sign on your hand,
and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes.
You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.

We will not hide them from their children,
but tell to the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord,
and his might, and the wonders that he has done...
that the next generation might know them,
the children yet unborn, and arise and tell them to their children,
so that they should set their hope in God

Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up
in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.
*The beautiful blue eyes you see in my blog header belong to this same 3 yr. old. If you don't see it.Hit "F5" on your keyboard to rotate the header images.

Ohhh man, that pic of her eyes is amazing!!!

Is it hard to shrink the pics to fit as a header. I made a collage out of some pics but it's not any bigger than a regular picture I just can't get any of them to be small enough to really be a header.

You are so right about the cards. Kristin wrote me a song and Jim McMury put it to music with Kristin singing. It was so good to hear and see how much God is an influence in her life through that song. Father's Day is my favorite holiday.

Soldier - you should post that song on your blog for others to enjoy!
