I don't think I've ever mowed a lawn, but I did try to counsel a guy who was having trouble with a ride-on mower (is that what those things are called?). That was a weird experience. I'm pretty sure I showed my ignorance fairly plainly.
At least the guy in the picture displayed some ingenuity. Although, it looks like he might've expended more time & energy trying to get that to work than it would've taken just to walk with the mower. Depends on the size of the lawn, etc.
